AEIOU THEATER

AEIOU is an independent art group founded in 2010 by the puppet director Katja Kähkönen, the sculptor, restorer and art pedagogue Mateja Ocepek, and the puppet animator, director and narrator Katja Povše in collaboration with a psychologist and a number of other artists. Since 2013, the theater has been operating in conjunction with its Finland-based sister group (Vauva- ja taaperoteatteri AEIOU).

AEIOU creates performances of visual and physical theater as well as object theater, with theatrical genres interconnected with other artistic genres. Our work places great emphasis on harmony between content, sound and visual imagery, with all of the elements adapting to the psychological and physical levels of development of the little ones. This interconnectedness of different artistic genres represents the toddlers’ (first) comprehensive contact with the world of art and theater.
